Early Years Learning
What are the early years, and what does it mean? The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the curriculum in England for your child’s first five years. It has seven areas of learning which help your child build different skills and knowledge, covering:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, social and emotional development
As well as four specific areas which are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Many other curricula in the UK and across the world follow similar principles, including the Oxford International Early Years Curriculum from Oxford University Press.
The Little Oxford App
The Little Oxford app will help your little one get ready for school and settle into education, with activities, books and games that come to life in your own surroundings. It offers a fun, playful and interactive set of learning journeys for your child to explore. Each pathway in the app is linked to an area of learning in the Early Years Curriculum.
Throughout are activities designed to boost your child’s physical and mental health, build their communication skills, support language and literacy development, encourage mathematical learning, encourage creativity and enhance their wider understanding of the world. The app is designed to support school readiness, by covering the early years curriculum, encouraging your child to focus on activities, building curiosity and imagination, and helping them learn to follow simple instructions.
